In recognition of Bob and Cynthia Chapman’s to patient safety,
and in gratitude for their sharing the insights that they have learned in developing
an extraordinary leadership model, a patient safety scholarship has been established
in their names.
Bob Chapman is one of America's most innovative and inspirational CEOs. His commitment to
people-centric leadership, continuous improvement, and disciplined growth has helped transform
Barry-Wehmiller into a well-balanced and financially solid company with dedicated team members
working together to realize a vision they articulate as "Achieving Principled Results on Purpose."
Barry-Wehmiller (BW) has leveraged strategic acquisitions and organic growth initiatives to become a
leading provider of manufacturing technology and engineering consulting solutions to a global
customer base.
Cynthia Chapman was so touched by the impact of the BW Leadership Training on BW team members that she is driving the development of a community communication skills program in order to give spouses the same experience. BW and the Chapmans measure their
success by how they touch peoples lives. They serve as a role model to us in healthcare.
It will support a patient safety officer, quality leader, administrative leader, or governance leader, from a hospital or hospital system that has a demonstrable need for such training, who would not otherwise be able to participate in the IHI program.
The scholarship will cover costs for tuition for the 8-day course, airline, and hotel expenses. The funding of approximately $10,000 will be provided directly to the hospital, and arrangements will be made with IHI by TMIT.
Following successful completion of the certification course, TMIT will then provide special multimedia training assets and programmatic materials to help the scholar achieve impact at his or her home organization.
Application for the Scholarship
TMIT will be reviewing candidates who submit applications, and determining the winner in the coming months.
The leadership team of the hospital, nursing home, or healthcare facility must write a letter of support for each candidate. Instructions for applying will be forthcoming.
